February 2009
This table lists all postwar cars produced by AFN, Ltd. The data is compiled from Frazer Nash archive sources, with contributions by James Trigwell, John Giles, Craig Davis, Tony Adriaensens and Bob Schmitt. This data was also recently partially reviewed by Leslie Jennings, formerly with AFN, Ltd, who commented by letter:
"I have, so far, had a quick scan - mainly over the period in which I was involved, and there are only a few comments I would make at this stage:
I hope the above will be of some help.
- FNS26 was still under construction in early February 1951. Delivery, perhaps late February? Also, to clarify the "Remarks", Engine FNS 1/26 was originally fitted, but was replaced by FNS 1/8, (20 March 51).
- FNS29. Delivery about March 1951; the chassis was at a very basic stage on 25 Jan 1951 and engine FNS 1/23 finished bench testing 21 February '51.
- FNS38. The first series 200 chassis was not completed until early 1952. Delivery date probably April 1952?. Engine FNS 1/35 was ex Spikins. Was this first series 200 chassis not denoted as such in the Chassis Number?
- FNS42. Delivery should probably read July 1952?
- FNS35. The Festival of Britain was in 1951 (unless my memory has deserted me completely!). The Le Mans Replica (colour British racing green) at Earls Court Motor Show in October 1951 had previously been exhibited at the Festival of Britain.
With best regards,"
Thanks very much, Mr. Jennings!
